One of my most favorite events on this trip was the hike up the mountain next to Lake Louise to visit the Lake Agnes Teahouse. This hike takes about 3 hours total, passing Mirror Lake and the Beehive (below), and ending at Lake Agnes and an old teahouse overlooking Lake Louise. It passes several waterfalls, and offers exceptionally beautiful views of the surrounding peaks and lakes. The walk was not too strenuous (my knees didn't complain nearly as much as they did on the cobblestones in Prague). But I was certainly glad I had decided to wear my thick sweater and light jacket (plus bring my rain slicker). |
When you reach the top of the climb, past the Bridal Veil waterfall, you are immediately greeted with this lovely view of the lake and the mountains and glacier that are behind it. To one side is the tea house, and on the other is the view back over the Bow Valley.

What you cannot see in the above last few photographs is that, as we sat on the porch of the teahouse, surrounded by people from all over the world and the luscious scent of hot chocolate, the light drizzly rain turned into a thick short-lived snow. What an experience! |
