We had to stop and see our favorite post-Modern building one last time. We called this the Arnold Schwarzenegger building, or the Sigourney Weaver "Alien" building. According to Tom, it's actually the headquarters of "Lloyds of London."
It looked stupendous at night, lit in a wonderful glowing, purple light. (Unfortunately, my night shots did not turn out. Sigh.)
Before it seemed at all possible, it was time to take the Heathrow Express from Paddington back to the airport.
I'm very thankful that my friend Tom accompanied me on this trip; I would never have attempted Cornwall or Puffin Burrow or Bodmin Moor or Jamaica Inn otherwise!
Next year, Sicily.... maybe Cayman Islands? Or New Mexico?
On our last full day, we tried to see sights we hadn't visited yet. After taking the Tube to Buckingham Palace, walking through the park, and feeding the crows and ducks, we visited a very crowded Westminster Abbey, walked past Parliament, Churchill, and Big Ben, then by the "Eye."
Along the South Bank, we visited the Tate Modern, then strolled back along the Strand. At last Tom was able to find some "real" tea at the historic (tiny) offices of Twinings.
