St. Vitus Cathedral (Hradcany Castle)

St. Vitus Cathedral, the national church of the Czech Republic, is easily the most visble building in Prague, towering over the city from almost any view (reminescent of the Parthenon in Athens). The church was begone in 1344, and finally finished in 1929.

The doors were elaborately cast with scenes from medieval church life. Inside, the main attraction is the chapel of St. Wenceslas.

Perhaps my favorite building on the castle grounds was the Basilica of St. Jiri (St. George), founded in 920AD and rebuilt in the 12th Century.
