Across the Plaza de America from the Royal Palace is the official Cathedral of Madrid, Catedral Virgen de la Almudena. It has been under start-and-stop construction for hundreds of years, and was only finished a few years ago.
Again, this is getting close to sunset, and the rosy glow on the spires is really wondrous. After dark, the Cathedral is thoroughly lit up and makes a prominent display on the Madrid skyline.
