Brady Street

Funky Bohemian. Milwaukee's answer to Greenwich Village. A bit hippy, a bit ethnic, a bit college-town. Yeah, it's my style.

We started our first visit to Brady Street with breakfast at Rochambo Coffee and Teahouse (toasted bagels, with coffee for Tom and lemonade for me). Then we walked the 10-block stretch to see what else was happening.

As I had been directed, we quickly found Glorioso's Italian Market, where we oogled the stuffed shelves full of Italian pasta, appraised the deli cases hung with a plentitude of sausages, and drooled over the rounds of huge Italian cheeses.

I really think we need this store in MY neighborhood.

On a return visit one evening, we had gyros and moussaka with Greek salads and yogurt dressing at the Apollo Cafe, sitting outside in the courtyard ("Passegio"), watching the passers-by and their dogs.
