On our return drive to London, we decided to do a little additional sight-seeingalthough there were 3 inches of snow or more on the ground and it was COLD!

The drive across the English countryside was beautiful in the snow. Once we got onto the main highways, the road conditions weren't too bad. I had been to Stonehenge once before, but in the summer. Seeing it with snow on the ground was quite a different experience. Even though there was a crowd of tourists, it still seemed barren on the Salisbury plain. |

Then we got back to London and "Drafty Street." Although cold, there was no snow. And, after a bit, it gradually warmed up (much more than in Chicago, I gathered). It also helped when Tom papered over the "ventilation hole" in the bedroom window. At left is Tom's photo of St. Paul's dome. On New Year's Eve, I went to Trafalgar Square and joined 100,000 other fools in ushering in the Millenium. I didn't take my camera, as I didn't want to take any risks. |
